Dr. Love’s Holidating Do’s or Don’ts

‘Tis the season for really f’ing things up with friends, family and those distant relatives you just can’t wait to see. The one thing you really want to count on is that you’ll both still be a couple when the tinsel’s back in the box. Even the most solid of relationships will feel the winter chill and the stress of Mr. Heatmiser breathing down the back of your neck. Let’s face it the Holiday Season is stressful and celebrating together with the respective family clans can get on anyone’s last nerve. Hopefully the Doctor has some helpful hints to keep you from candy caning each other to death!

Do’s

  • Be prepared! Realize the potential the season brings. Manage each situation as you would normally, using your common sense. It will be more enjoyable when you maintain a firm handle on everything.
  • Schedule as much as possible on a calendar you both can share. Sounds corny but it might keep you from a disappointing mishap such as showing up to her work’s Holiday party two sheets from the wind or smelling like reindeer dung from that impromptu snipe hunt. It’s supposed to be your chance to be charming not a wino. Plus, don’t forget to sneak in a few naughty moments; I suggest one for each day of the month.
  • Leave sweet nothing messages, love notes or dirty little secrets as to what is yet to come as the 12 days of Christmas dwindle to a close. Be creative and keep each other wanting more.
  • Sneak away from that party or family gathering for a little rendezvous in the coat closet. A little New Years adventure is always good for the future story telling. ”…remember that time…”
  • Communication…Communication…Communication!
  • Splurge for a night on the town just the two of you. Take a carriage ride or enjoy the Yuletide Celebration, Christmas lighting ceremony, live Nativity, or enjoy The Nutcracker. Too easy, you can insert your own joke here!
  • Find the Christmas Spirit early. No one likes a scrooge. Whatever works for you, do it…volunteer at a local soup kitchen, start shopping on Black Friday, sit on Santa’s lap, bake your favorite cookies, break out the Holiday music, or my personal favorite, watch Rudolph take on the Bumble, he bounces!

Don’ts

  • Never get into a heated debate. There’s no place for politics or heated suggestions on topics only Uncle Eddie thinks he knows the answers to.
  • Don’t make plans for your significant other without a consultation first. See calendar above. It’s great that you want him to stop by mom & dads on Christmas Eve but don’t blind side him 2 hours before dinner. Likewise, a Christmas party sounds great until all your family and friends show up and none of his were even invited.
  • Lose the holiday sweater. Guys, it’s fugly on you. Grandma’s the only one who can get away with it.
  • No woman likes it when you bark orders to get you another beer. It’s not called in-sensitivity training for a reason -- so guy’s help out! Get off your a** and be perceptive to her needs even showing her you’re in touch with your feminine side; no one’s going to remember anyway, it’s Christmas…This goes for helping out your mother too!
  • Forgo the whips and paddles or crotchless for something classy. Although you might like it, she’s looking for something from the heart. This doesn’t mean it can’t be risqué or something your grandmother’s Aunt Sue would wear…Yuk. Note for the ladies: Some of you might disagree; just let your man know ahead of time if kinky is the spirit.
  • Choose your drinks wisely. Look we’ve all been there, remember that time at band camp when you blew chunks all over sweet Annie the flutist, not good…Besides have you seen eggnog from above your girl while holding her hair back? Definitely not good…
  • Secret Santa, White Elephant and caroling are only for Christmasochists, and we all feel the pain.

And then there's team back shaving

Dr. Love’s Date Idea Playbook - Episode 4 (Physical Dates)

So your date needs to have a little more substance than mind games and fluff. Try these ideas sure to get you just the action you’ve been hoping for.

Slap Shot – Get on thin ice? Okay a different form of ice. Depending on the weather, head to the nearest ice-skating rink. It’s a perfect excuse to hold hands and “accidentally” fall on top of each other. Grab a cup of hot cocoa and cozy up to each other for warmth. If the ice frightens you too much then try the local roller rink. As long as you don’t mind being the oldest couple there who aren’t celebrating a 10 year olds birthday, it’s a great way to practice your Xanadu moves. Don’t forget the couples skate!

A Bicycle Built for Two – Feeling adventurous? Grab your mountain bikes and head to the nearest State Park to ride the trails. Maybe even rent a tandem bike so you can make him do all the work…Pack a picnic in those backpacks, something refreshing to drink and a blanket for that secluded stop where you can hear only the leaves falling from the trees. Don’t forget the bug spray.

A Stroll in the Woods - Did someone say hiking boots? So bikes aren’t your thing. That’s okay because hiking the wilderness on your own two feet can be just as fun. Explore nature’s beauty at one of America’s National Parks, stroll one of its many beaches, or if you’re comfortable with a compass wander out on your own. If you or your girl has a dog, why not bring it along. Showering ‘Rover’ with affection also won’t hurt your game.

Maritime Fun – Strip down or suit up for some water sports like wind surfing, white water rafting, kayaking, wakeboarding, or rent a Jet Ski. The adrenaline alone will produce so much flirting and innuendo; you’ll both have your motors running. And you know you’ve been waiting to see her in that bikini… If a more intimate alternative is what you seek, take a nice calm canoe showing off your man power, stopping along the bank for private dance. *ADNW promotes that proper oceanic and other water safety rules be followed at all times.

Break Out Your Neck-Car Game – Who doesn’t like to drive fast and dress like Dale Earnhardt Jr.? Check out your local Go-Kart facility, tracks can be indoor and outdoor and all the safety equipment is included. With speed limits in the 40mph range you might not win the Daytona 500 but the rush will leave you wanting more. Place a wager on the outcome and put the peddle to the metal.

Okay, we felt bad about that first photo. Now can we be friends again?

Dr. Love’s Date Idea Playbook - Episode 3 (Classic Dates)

Six classic dates that work well even with a twist or two.

Diner and a Movie – If there is one classic date night it has to be dinner and a movie. Now guys, you know the movie pretty much means “chick flick” but why not step up the dinner a bit and find a good diner, drive-in or dive to check out. Mom and Pop restaurants give you a down home feel that helps to relax you and your date. She’ll think your killer with style and nothings better than “winner, winner chicken dinner”.

Where Everybody Knows Your Name – Everyone has a friendly neighborhood tavern, their Cheers, and what a better place for that blind date, or just to hang out with friends. Live music or a jukebox and a few beers, maybe some dancing, you know you’ll have a good time. Between the darts and pool game wagers and don’t forget a few Patron shots thrown in and the evening might just lead to breakfast!

Root, Root, Root for the Home Team – Pro-ball, college or peewee you got to love scoring some points with your guy by getting involved in his favorite game. Tickets can be cheap if you look close and there’s always that beer and ballpark dog combo calling your name. Buy him some peanuts and Cracker Jack, sport your hometown ball cap or other garb and don’t forget the big foam finger…

Comedy Corner – Check out your local comedy network for the next Chris Rock or look into amateur night, but either way bring a smile and your funny bone. Get a great seat right up front and when the comedian asks questions of the audience make up a good story and play along. Don’t forget your two drink minimum by ordering the weirdest concoction you can image. Soon you’ll be uncontrollably laughing at each other.

Planetarium – Who doesn’t like staring up at the stars on a clear night in late autumn? Your local college or university observatory or Astronomy department’s refractor telescope is a great way to see the Milky Way up close. Study up on your Star Charts as a good way to seem more intelligent than you already know you are. You might even catch the man in the moon.

The Zoo – Lions and tigers and bears, oh my…We all love the fury creatures of the world and what better than a play date at the zoo. Whether you bring the kids or not, interaction with the smaller species in the petting zoo might tap some of those hidden animal instincts. Sit and relax while feeding the birds and spend a few hours debating on why getting a pet snake is not a good idea.

What are you looking at?

From the Dr. Love Files – 2.2

And there's always time for crafts

Dr. Love’s Date Idea Playbook - Episode 2 (Cheap Dates)

I wouldn’t suggest going cheap on any date but sometimes the funds just aren’t there to spend. So when you’re feeling the money pinch and if appropriate for the current phase of your relationship, these date ideas might help.

Library Stack – Most big cities have a central library system or a college campus “stack” you could use for this date, but if not, a local bookstore might just do the trick. Walk the aisles together, conversing over books you like or those you just plain hate and learn more about each other. Use the Dewey Decimal System (okay log on to the local area network and search if you must) to find authors, subjects, and titles of old favorites that you’d just love to read to one another. You might just check out a copy the Kama Sutra for later use.

Test Drive a Car – Ninety-eight percent of guys grow up with the love of cars. Whether it’s his collection of Hot Wheels, Steve McQueen infatuation, or dad’s old hot rod, it is in his blood. Grab his latest copy of Car & Driver and pick out the latest sports model on everyone’s list. Why not head over to a local car dealership and test drive the most expensive car they’ll let you drive off the lot? You say you have driving skills too? Well, he’ll let you take a turn at the wheel, just don’t side-seat-critique unless you want to pull off the side of the road for a quick look in the back seat.

1st Snow – It’s the only snow of the season that you actually care about so why not make the most of it? “With a corncob pipe and a button nose and two eyes made out of coal,” your snowman will be the envy of all the neighbors; especially when they see you dancing around the yard with him. Build Fort Snowtown and compete in a snowball fight against each other or the courtyard brats as if it’s the dawn of the ice age. Make some homemade sleds out of trash can lids and sail down the tallest hill in town. When it’s all said and done, cuddle up in front of the fireplace with some hot chocolate. Granted, this only works if you actually live near snow, but you could always pretend; Got Ice?

One Man’s Junk – It’s probably not true because garbage is garbage but it’s possible to find a steal at a local yard sale. Grab the Sunday paper and look for an auction of unique items. Sign up to bid and push the price up just for fun. Find an antique lamp, chair or fixer up and make a project out of restoring the item. Find the ritziest neighborhood garage sale to increase your chances of finding a something outstanding for dirt cheap. Nothing says I love you more than a trip to Sanford & Sons.

Walking Through the Park and Reminiscing – Maybe you still live close enough to where you or your sweetness grew up? Take a trip back in time by going to each others hometown, visiting all the old hangouts and special places that made you who you are today. Take a walk in the local park, holding hands like the innocence of yesterday, and don’t forget the grown up pictures at each attraction for a start at brand new memories.

From the Dr. Love Files -2.1

Who says a girl has to walk around topless to get a man's attention?

In round two, the Doctor brings you a more direct approach to dating, relationship issues and love-help guides that will certainly expand your own approach to the ways of love & romance. As always, common sense and good natured, heartfelt truths stretched from the secret encyclopedia of all the great lovers of the world will be put to the test as we explore human behaviors in a quest for everlasting affection.

Dr. Love’s Date Idea Playbook

Surely there are times when you just can’t come up with something that sounds fun to do…You banter back and forth, Him: “What do you want to do?” Her: “I don’t care, what do you feel like?” Him: “I don’t know.” Next you know you’re canceling the whole thing. Well, Dr. Love to the rescue! These date ideas should help settle the argument. Whether the relationship is just getting started or been there-done that, there’s always room for new and some old standby’s that still work. Use what you like and don’t forget to change it up a bit!

Episode 1 (First Dates)

Appropriately as the first installment a focus on the all-important first dates, not the “1st Date,” but the beginning of the dating scene when it might still be awkward and you want comfort and fun.

The Bowling Alley – Clearly the whole idea of throwing a 12 pound ball down a 4 foot lane says fun, fun, fun; who knows what might happen. First, psych her out with disgusting thoughts of who wore those funny clown shoes right before she did. When you program his name up on the big screen for all to see, make it cutesy, maybe “Honey-bunny” or go bold with “King-pin.” Then there’s the all important wager; most strikes, per gutter ball, best pro-bowler stance, high score, you get the idea. I like the $1 bet but you choose wisely.

The Wine Trail - Although I would disagree that wine is the new beer, many states are known to have local wineries that sponsor classic wine trails. If no trail exists, make your own. The idea is similar to the old bar hop but with a hint of sophistication; traveling from one to another with a few tastes along the way. Try something new or stick with your favorite and enjoy the atmosphere, which is unique to each stop. Take a blanket along. With the right cheese and wine picnic, you might just find a new hobby or become an enthusiast. (ADNW promotes the designated driver program).

The Concert – Every week your local paper promotes neighborhood entertainment at area venues where local bands would just kill for an audience. For you MySpace’ers here’s one more use in which most bands post shows on their page with song samples and even directions to the show. Country, Blues, Rock Alternative, or Pop you’ll have a chance to expand you’re listening repertoire and maybe even see the next big thing before American Idol catches them. Break out those old Kiss T’s with a pair of Chuck Taylors and you’re set.

A Night at the Movies – Classic date but why make it normal? Spice it up a bit by finding a drive-in theater. You always get two movies for the price of one and it’s cozier than the regular theaters. You can load up on all your favorite snacks; bring a blanket and a pillow, tune in and ease the seat back. Hint: let him pick the flick and you’ll get bonus points for being easygoing, even though you still might miss most of the movie.

Coffee Klatch – (You might want to read the Acquired Taste section of ADNW before considering this date or at a minimum know your audience). Although Starbucks can’t replace the bar environment, it can provide a good atmosphere for learning more about each other. You could tell stories about others as they enter and leave. You might catch open mic night with some humor from an unknown “jalapeño on a stick” comic, a beatnik poet doing his best Mike Myers So I Married an Axe Murderer rendition, or an indie granola guitar hero wannabe. Grab a Carmel Macchiato and a scone and I bet you end up with a good laugh or someone to make fun of on the way home.

From the Dr. Love Files -1.9

Fallacy 8 – Dumped; Like a hobo on a hot ham and cheese!

We’ve all been there before; you think things are going great, the sex, the endless conversation, the good times day and night and then the relationship tanks. You can ask yourself what happened and beat yourself up for something you think you did wrong, but the truth just might be that nothing happened. Here are five fairly meaningless reasons why that guy of your dreams kicked you to the curb.

1. We are “in like” with you – Let’s face it, sometimes it’s not real love and it’s probably the most real reason we run away. The minute we know you’re not the one it gets harder to invest in something we known eventually comes to an end. As we find out that you are way more into us than we are into you, the guilt of continuing when you deserve someone who’s into you just as much takes over.
2. The king of worst-case scenario’s - Think ladies before you speak because every time you chastise us, without ever taking a breath, for being late or not doing the right thing we are filing this away in our worst-case mental handbook. As the relationship grows and there is less sex and more trips for rocky road ice cream, we become enlightened of the future and what can go wrong in the long run. We blame our married friends who tell it like it is…
3. ‘The Player’ still persists – Guys are always wondering if this is as good as it gets? Is the grass always greener? Can we upgrade? (I know…ouch!) You also have all our other buds we’re trying to stay one step ahead of working against you. We might feel we’ll have another notch in the bed post to achieve until one day when we grow up and the checklist is complete. Until then, flight or fight is a real possibility.
4. The clock has lost its timing – Mr. Right has arrived and women get serious. Men really only get serious with whomever we happen to be dating at the time. That or once we’ve got our own life in order. What this means is if any part of our lives is in turmoil; school, work, car, friends, family, the timing could be all wrong. Speaking for the Dr Love School of Settling Down, a guy could date a girl for 2 years, break up for being too serious and 8 months later, be looking at engagement rings with the woman of his dreams.
5. We might just be too into you – Good news, it’s not all death and destruction. Guys are notorious for the preemptive strike and in order to protect our emotions (frankly, were just as scared to get hurt as you are) we’ll pull the plug as part of natural self-preservation. Let’s face it, most the time you have the power (and the mommy-parts) and when it comes to heartbreak or vulnerability we’ll run like the wind.

Body Part of the Week

Picture perfect super hot long hair; whether straight or curly, wet or dry, done up right or all natural right out of bed look, it’s flowing in the wind and we love it! Now, I know you short haired beauties have spunk, we like that too. But the truth is there’s just something about spooning with a mouth full of brunette, auburn or blonde locks and leaves the aroma of rosemary, lilac, strawberry, apple, pear, peach, vanilla (you get my point) lingering on the pillow long after you’ve gone that keeps us right were you want us.

From the Dr. Love Files -1.8

Sure he's acting all casual, but you know what he's thinking when Mr. Clinton fires up a cigar.

Fallacy 7 – Ladies, 10 things he’s thinking when you’re naked, or not!

1. Drinks? Check. Tic-Tac? Check. Pre-date safety orgasm? Check.
2. Who is Big Bill Hickok? And what is his name doing there?
3. Please don’t put on the baggy T-shirt…please!
4. Hmmm…are these sheets clean?
5. I kinda don’t care that they’re fake.
6. Focus on her eyes, on her eyes, on her…just forget it!
7. Suck in my gut, suck in my gut, suck in…oh forget it!
8. That webcam didn’t even begin to do her justice.
9. True blonde, perfect!
10. Very interesting, another nipple shape for my mental collection.

Body Part of the Week

I never gave much thought to how talented the tongue really is. Maybe, I took my own gift of tongue for granted, many a conversation behind my back later, and not for just your enjoyment, ladies. The tongue (the strongest muscle in the body – sorry fellas) is used to manipulate food for chewing and swallowing. But did you know your tongue has its own unique “tongue print” and holds 90% of your taste buds? Or that, speech would be virtually impossible without it? Then there’s the tongue rolling parlor tricks and modifications and piercings dating back to ancient cultures. In pop culture it spawned a legacy and made many, even me a fan of the king of all tongues, The Demon; yes Gene Simmons of the “greatest band in the land”…Kiss. Now, I know how tantalizing the thought of this seductive instrument can be, so use it right and enjoy.

From the Dr. Love Files -1.7

And yes, constantly having a cell phone on your ear does make you smarter and more attractive.

Fallacy 6 – Five Secrets Men Will Never Admit To

These really do speak for themselves; I just hope I haven’t given away the farm.

1. We only listen to half of what you say about half the time; it’s hereditary.
2. There is absolutely no connection between how good our sex life is and how often we use the cowboy grip in private.
3. Going to Hooters for wings doesn’t get old until you have a daughter of your own.
4. Any feelings we hold for an ex are obscure compared to the love of our very first Playboy.
5. We love Sex and the City, as much as you do; it’s like a documentary that opened our eyes to how women really conduct themselves.

Body Part of the Week

The bubble butt is back! Whatever happened to the J. Lo hype? The phenomenon can NOT be over? There’s still something to be said for the exquisite roundness some of you ladies share with the world. A really tight pair of jeans or some daisy dukes and “I’m hooked and I can’t stop starin`…So if Cosmo says you’re fat, I ain’t down with that…your curves are kickin!” Baby Got Back?

From the Dr. Love Files -1.6

The words are unimportant. Butt writing is always an effective way to say, "look at my ass!"

Fallacy 5 – Five Things to Know About His Man Parts

Sometimes Glamour articles get it right at least in title or theory. Here’s Doc Love’s take on one such article. I can’t tell how much these things are true, so ladies pay attention!

1. The penis is not an only child – Do not forget about the identical twins.
2. Whoooa, slow down! It’s not gymnastics – 3% of men suffer a bent or scarred penis, known as Peyronie’s Disease.
3. Women like compliments about their figure – we like them about our junk.
4. We’d never expect you to clean us off after the act – but if you do you’ll quickly find a ring on your finger.
5. Don’t call it a penis – You’re not a doctor, even if you are dressed like a nurse; be grandiose, think seductive!

“She’s got legs and she knows how to use them”, ZZ Tops double entendre to tall ladies says it all. How many times have you turned back to watch a beautiful lady walk away in high heels, and thought about it? Innuendo all around us and nothing but smooth shaved bipeds to gaze upon. Thanks to all for showing them off!

Fallacy 4 – There’s flirting, and then there’s FLIRTING!

These actually came from a real Cosmopolitan article, “Flirting Moves No Man Can Resist.” They even touted it as crafting the “ultimate bag him bible.” I could not resist sharing just a few. Ladies take note but I’ll let you decide why they work, and if you should try them. Men please look for these signs and you’ll soon know when you’re being bagged!

• Stroll over to a bored boy and inform him that you’re from the social search-and rescue. Your Mission? To save him from a dull night.
• At a café, dip your finger in your dessert, put it in your mouth, and slowly pull it out while eyeing a hot guy.
• Tell him that you’re an amateur palm reader. While you’re peering at his hand, trace any creases and predict that there will be lots of passion in his future.
• Give him a long once-over from head to toe then bring your eyes back to his. Smile ever so slightly to let him know you like what you see.
• Say you’re trying out a new perfume, then hold out your wrist or expose your neck and ask his opinion.
• Pull out a copy of the Kama Sutra from your bag and say, “Would you be interested in joining my book club?”
• Proclaim that you’re thinking about changing your name. Then say with a smile, “Do I strike you as more of a Sienna or a Bambi?”
• At a bar or coffeehouse, use the tip of your tongue lick beer or espresso foam from your lips.
• Once you’ve scoped out the buffest bod at the gym, remark that he looks like he’s pretty familiar with the place and ask where the best spot to stretch out is.
• Tell a capable cutie that you have a minor emergency: an itch you can’t reach.

I think the Doctor speaks for all men when he says thank you Cosmo for making it that much easier!
Of course there's also Flirting Move # 32 - Dance on the bar

Body Part of the Week

Back of the Neck – I think most ladies would agree, when your man is cuddled up behind you and breathes or kisses the back of your neck, it sends chills to all the right places.

Fallacy 3 – Five Dating Goofs for the Ladies!

You’re an attractive single who’s got it together but Mr. Right never comes along. Are you giving off ‘stay away from me’ signals? Make sure you’re not subconsciously making the following mistakes.

1. There are no cute guys here? Sure it’s your hang out but it’s also the same old spot. You know that guy at the office asks you to lunch or out for coffee for a reason, why not give it a try? Venture outside your comfort zone.
2. Am I really that shallow? When working the room realize the real catch might just be watching you. If you’re bitchy to the so-so’s, he knows. That and Mr. So-So might turn out to be the fresh start. Give him a shot.
3. What’s all this girl power? Bringing girlfriend back up with you might backfire. What if he likes one of your friends instead? Plus guys don’t like being rejected by your entire posse.
4. Are blind dates really that bad? Don’t believe the hype, sometimes the best way to find a good guy is to be set up. If people you know like him, maybe he’s the one you’ve been looking for.
5. Are you really on a husband finding mission? Most guys steer away from the girl they think is ready to settle down. Take a deep breathe and enjoy yourself; the rest will come naturally.

Body Part of the Week

Belly Button – The original “gateway of life” has gone from taboo to erotic. Whether you prefer an innie or an outie, with or without fluff (sometimes called fuzz) or even pierced you have to admit they’re damn cute. It’s also another reason why Mary Ann wins out over Ginger. Spring is here and I vote for Bikini’s all around!

Little Dimple – Sometimes this spot gets a bad wrap. Ancient folklore has it that this is the spot where they cut off the devil tail…and with recent tattoo’s it’s been tagged with “tramp stamp.” But whether you believe in legends or not, this little dimple just below the lower back and above their bubble bottom is one sexy spot.

Fallacy 2 – Five Good Girlfriend Behaviors
Sometimes it seems men get slammed for being insensitive. Often our only mistake is that things didn’t play out how she imagined it would. Well ladies pay attention. This list just might help you understand where we’re coming from.

1. Public affection = If you’re all over him in front of his friends, he’s going to enjoy it; just don’t be obnoxious.

2. Giving gifts = You should give gifts early and often but there’s really only one real gift required.

3. Hanging with the guys = You spending an afternoon on the couch watching football with his friends there is NOT what he had in mind!

4. Lingerie = It’s always nice if it matches; leave it on the floor if you’d like.

5. Leaving stuff at his place = Tells him you can’t wait to come back!

Body Part of the Week (Intro)

Now you know as well as I do that a woman’s body is a wonderland and there’s not one single thing about it that is imaginary. I mean we imagine every little intricate part over and over and over...isn’t that what we’re supposed to dream about? This is meant with all the respect in the world, and let’s face it ladies you have it and you know how to use it. We love you inside and out!

Hip Groove – One of the Doctor’s favorite spots; it’s that little groove below the waste line that runs from the hip to the mommy parts…

Fallacies (Intro)

In the spirit of everything that is wrong with Cosmopolitan, Glamour or Marie Claire, the Doctor brings you some much-needed medicine. Whether you’re a man (and you hear it from your lover) or woman (die hard reader and quiz taker) you are forced to be like the Hollywood Stars you love to hate and buy into the hype that love, relationships or good old fashion sex sells magazines. The problem is… who is writing this crap and does it really work? This weekly serial is the solution you might be looking for. It will be a collection of articles, lists, and even quiz’s of uncommon nomenclature giving you the common sense you always wanted when dealing with people of the opposite sex.

Fallacy - Five Things to do After a Break Up

We’ve all been there before, blaming yourself for what went wrong or missing the one that got away; no need to sit at home and sulk there’s too many fish in the sea. Let these 5 simple rules get you back on track.

1) Indulge your list of vices – Now you might say, be careful (and you should) but what’s more fun than doing all the things the old ball ‘n’ chain never let you do. No one’s telling you NO anymore.

2) Road Trip – Get out on the open road and forgeddaboutit. A change of scenery with the wind in your hair and nothing but opportunity in mind.

3) Nurture a new crush – The last thing on your mind is probably developing new butterflies, but strike up conversation with the local Starbucks barista or that bartender you’ve been meaning to get to know.

4) Out of site/out of mind – remove all those mementos and keepsakes that just seem to keep popping up around the house that remind you of your ex. Box them up at a minimum.

5) Celebrate your freedom – Look, you spent a lot of time doing what they wanted and not what you like to do. You had a life before and you’ve got one now -- Get out there again and do those things on your bucket list.
